MID-AMERICAN RELEASES PRELIMINARY 2010 SCHEDULE

FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (January 10, 2010) – Mid-American Stock Car Series officials released a tentative 2010 schedule Saturday with 10 set dates and two preliminary agreements with dates to be set. The series is in negotiation with two other venues for 2010 events.

The 2010 season is scheduled to begin at Rockford Speedway on Sunday, Apr. 18. The action-packed quarter-mile will host a second MASCS date on Sunday, Oct. 3 as part of the 45th annual National Short Track Championships.

As was the case last season, Dells Raceway Park is slated to host three MASCS events. The first appearance is scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 29. The series is then scheduled to return two months later on Saturday, July 24. The third and final stop at the third-mile will be during DRP’s Fall Classic weekend on Saturday, Sept. 11 and Sunday, Sept 12.

The only championship points race sandwiched between the second and third DRP stops will be a trip north to Norway (Mich.) Speedway. The series will return to the UP on Friday, July 16.

The Norway race will be preceded by two special MASCS events. Mid-American will take part in a star-studded weekend at Road America on June 19 and 20. The event will be a flat points race, with all participants receiving the same amount of points. Following that event will be a trip to the clay at Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Friday, July 2.

The series is scheduled to round out the season with trips to Madison International Speedway (Sept. 25), Rockford Speedway (Oct. 3) and La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway for Oktoberfest Race Weekend (Oct. 9).

With 10 events set, two tracks have agreed in principle to hold Mid-American events with dates yet to be determined. Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill., have stated their intent to host the series in 2010. Details will be released as soon as dates are set.

The series is also in negotiation with two other venues. MASCS officials have been in close talks with Raceway Park in Shakopee, Minn., and State Park Speedway in Wausau, Wis.

The Mid-American Stock Car Series 2009 awards banquet will be held this Saturday, January 16 at the Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center. Motorsports Hall of Famer Mel Kenyon will give a speech prior to the banquet with Fr. Dale Grubba scheduled to deliver a speech during the ceremony. The banquet will also feature the giveaway of a B&B Race Engine, a trip to Bristol’s spring race from Boring Bob’s Tours and many other giveaways.
